Figure 1. Differences between the Ag peaks were observed when variation in material composition for one part of the source for the same source model S7500 was investigated with the E-Brachy software. The results were compared with NIST measurements (black graph). Note the photon spectrum is scored in air, 178 cm from the source, to be consistent with the NIST measurements scheme.
Figure 2. Shows the TG-43 anisotropy function values versus angles calculated by the e-Brachy software at 1cm from the origin of the Xoft source model S7500.
Conclusion:
In this work, a software package, E-Brachy, was developed to characterize the Xoft brachytherapy source. Source spectrum at different media, angles, and distances, as well as the TG-43 parameters, can be calculated using this package. The software will also be used for patient-specific dosimetry. Upon providing the design and the material composition, the software package could be adjusted and utilized for the spectrometry and dosimetry characterization of any electronic brachytherapy source.
