In fact, there are no commercially available options for this purpose. Dose measurements in BT are especially challenging due to steep dose gradients, different angular incidences due to the different dwell positions and different energy ranges due to variations of the radiation spectra with the distance. Radiochromic films offer advantages over other detectors in this field due to their high spatial resolution, near water-equivalence, and their small angular-energy dependency in the energy range of interest in high-dose rate (HDR) BT. The objective of this work is to present a method and a phantom to perform absolute dose measurements using radiochromic films in HDR BT, comparing the obtained results with those of the treatment planning system (TPS), for either 192 Ir or 60 Co sources.
