ESTRO 2024

This proposal provides improved features when compared with other studies [1]-[4] that use advanced and high-cost methods, such as conoscopic holography scanning [1], structured light scanning [2], or conventional computed tomography [3] (that requires the patient to undergo a previous CT scan). These articles show a common interest towards the improvement of the IORT techniques, via 3D-scanning of the tumoral bed and the personalization of dose calculations for each patient. Table 1 shows the pros and cons for each technology.

Conclusion:

In this work, a novel 3D-scanning technology is used for IOeRT and a virtual CT study is generated for each scan, that could be used for dosimetry calculations. This study compares different 3D-scanning technologies available in the bibliography, being smartphone photogrammetry the one exhibiting improved scanning time-precision results. This allows for accurate (in the millimetric range), fast (45 to 100 seconds) and low cost (using common mobile phones)
