Mean body MAE for the testing set were 71 HU (2.5D), 78 HU (axial), 77 HU (coronal), and 76 HU (sagittal), suggesting a slight advantage of the 2.5D approach (p-values = 4.77e-7; Table 1). The highest accuracy was achieved in the soft tissues (around 20 HU), with larger deviations in the bone (142 to 156 HU) and air (260 to 276 HU). For air, bone and water, 2.5D sSPR outperformed the 2D sSPR approach (p-values ≤ 4.28e-4).
