Typical metrics however (Kolmogorov-Smirnov, structural similarity index measure-SSIM, γ-index) were not found suitable for automating treatment error detection, since they returned non-significant difference for both 1 mm offset (resembling source mispositioning along the catheter) and 0.5 mm offset (resembling source position tolerance within the catheter), relative to results for the source centered. While this is partly due to relatively increased Monte Carlo statistical uncertainties, it appears that a different analysis is required to take advantage of the observed pattern of differences.
