and 30% increase after 20 and 40 Gy in the 4th quartile. Figure 2 depicts in detail the experimental points and theoretical curves.

Of note, we did not apply any correction to the TPS dose since the in vivo dosimetry study showed that TPS accurately predicted measured doses in 85% of the cases (with no significant difference between tangential fields and VMAT). The observed discrepancies for 15% of the measurements may depend on experimental errors.

Conclusion:

We assessed the haemoglobin concentration in the skin capillaries of breast cancer patients treated with radiotherapy using a non-invasive technique based on reflectance spectra. We developed a Linear Mixed Model to describe the haemoglobin variation as a function of the haemoglobin baseline value, the cumulative mean dose to the skin volume and the random (patient-specific) effects. We will extend the model by considering available data for patients treated with a dose boost or ultra-hypo fractionation scheme.
