ESTRO 2024
1. Systematic scoping review:
Searches yielded 1800 publications. Following title and abstract screening, 46 studies exploring 31 different NMOCs were charted. All studies aimed to use NMOC to enhance tissue visualisation (41/46 (89%)) or observe motility (5/46 (11%)). All studies were purely quantitative, and only 13% of studies utilised a questionnaire to measure participant experience. No studies investigated the use or applicability of NMOC agents in the process of planning or delivering MR-guided radiotherapy. All included studies performed in vivo testing in humans, however, 18 of those studies (39%) reported preliminary in vitro testing. NMOCs reported in the literature can be broadly separated into five food groups: water, fruit juice, milk/emulsion, tea, and infant feeding formulas.
2. In vitro evaluation:
T1 and T2 maps are shown in Figures 1 and 2, respectively. NMOCS with the shortest mean T1 and T2 (<342ms and <69ms, respectively) included yerba mate and pineapple juice.
