Purpose/Objective:

The VIP training package has been developed to allow RTTs to gain IGRT competencies that are recognised and transferable within 12 London Radiotherapy departments. The aim of this pilot study was to assess the effectiveness and feasibility of rolling out the VIP for training and assessment of IGRT in qualified RTT’s. We achieved this by assessing the learning gains of newly qualified RTT’s across five London centres and collating feedback on it use.

Material/Methods:

All newly qualified RTT’s from 5 London centres were invited to participate. RTT’s completed a pre-training questionnaire and asked to rate their knowledge and understanding of IGRT using a ten-point Likert scale. They then completed training on 2D imaging and general IGRT considerations and further modules for other ‘standard’ tumour sites. Each module was assessed, testing their comprehension on four aspects of the training:

Anatomy

Imaging protocols

• Common issues related to imaging the tumour site • Error correction strategies

Results were analysed using descriptive statistics.

RTT’s completed a post-training questionnaire to determine if there was a learning gain. Learning gain was recorded for:

• Understanding imaging methods and modalities • Knowledge of common issues
