RTT - Education, training, advanced practice and role developments
ESTRO 2024
RTT can be involved in many areas at any stage of treatment. The main obstacle for RTT participation in research or transversal activity or projects remains the organization in relation to working time. The difficulty to have time dedicated for these other roles explained the low proportion involved. Huge part of these projects or transversal activities led to clinical improvements, but few resulted in a publication or oral communication. The medical adhesion, the selection of the target population, the support for scientific communication are the main factors for the effectiveness of RTT projects.

Purpose/Objective:
Online adaptive techniques, although still novel, are being widely investigated. Previous work into this subject indicated a training need for UK Therapeutic Radiographers (TRs) to integrate adaptive techniques into current practice. TR working practice differs internationally hence an investigation into training methods, preferences, and needs for magnetic resonance image guided radiotherapy (MRIgRT) was undertaken.
Material/Methods:
An electronic training needs analysis (TNA) previously used for UK TRs had some terminology altered to suit a non UK cohort, but the investigated skills were kept the same. 1 The requirements were also adapted, participants had to be working on a MRIgRT linac (MRL) outside the UK. Invitations were sent via the MR consortium, the manufacturers, and social media to recruit participants. The aim was to receive a similar number of responses (n = 66) and location (Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, and Hong Kong) compared to an international survey on current practice. 2
Results:
The TNA was open from February to May 2023. A total of 75 responses were received from 13 countries, (Figure 1). Clinical practice was the preferred method of training for all investigated skills with 60-84% rating it as ‘highly suitable’. Workshops up to one day in length was the next preferred method of training. Free text comments were
