Assessment of motivation and satisfaction of Radiotherapists in Portugal

Joana M Barbosa, Sofia M Ribeiro

IPO Lisboa, Radiotherapy, Lisbon, Portugal

Purpose/Objective:

Assess the motivation and satisfaction of radiotherapists (RTTs) in Portugal (PT).

Material/Methods:

An individual survey, with 4 groups of questions, was applied using GoogleForms® to characterize the sample and evaluate the satisfaction and motivation of radiotherapists. The answers were obtained using a Likert scale with 5 levels. Level 1 corresponds to “Very unmotivated/dissatisfied” and level 5 “Very motivated/satisfied”. The survey was disseminated through the social networks of a Portuguese professional association. 166 RTTs answered the survey but 15 were excluded, participants who do not work in PT (13) and those who did not complete the questionnaire (2). Statistical analysis of the data obtained was carried out using the Excel program. Motivation and satisfaction were analysed by age group, geographic area, work area and business sector.

Results:

Analysing motivation and satisfaction by age group, geographic area and work sector we did not obtain relevant differences. However, the analysis by business sector revealed significant differences between the two. Table 1 presents the results obtained for motivation and table 2 shows the points with the greatest differences in satisfaction.
