We defined the variable coefficients by applying repeated 7-times cross-validation and selecting the numbers providing the best model performance (minimal performance obtained during the iteration was 0.19 and 0.70 for PR and AUC, respectively). Table 1 describes the model details.

Predicted curves and experimental points are reported in Figure 1a. This graphical view does not consider the impact of V42 Gy on the theoretical curves. In Figure 1b, we overcome this limitation by converting any factors into an equivalent V20 Gy (cc) to describe the population around a single predictive curve (see the caption explanation).
