The incidence of toxicity/chronic diseases after the treatment was very high with the most common: neurological (36%), endocrinologic (31%), orthopaedic (31%), genitourinary (including infertility – 28%), cardiac (23%), gastrointestinal (26%), visual (21%) and psychological (26%). Other included: dental issues (18%), hearing loss (13%), lung diseases (7%) and skin problems (11%). The incidence of the number of chronic diseases according to the type of primary diagnosis is presented in Figure 1. The highest incidence of multiple complications was observed in survivors of brain tumours and 29.7% of the whole group declared having four or more medical conditions.
Parents were engaged in the care of young adults in 84%, while 16% started family or moved out. Only 4% had children (including twins). Various degrees of disability was diagnosed in 44% of the group.
Conclusion: Childhood survivors suffer from multiple chronic diseases and require complex and long-life follow-up.
