Radiation Oncology, Comprehensive Cancer Center, General Hospital Vienna, Medical University Vienna, Vienna, Austria Purpose/Objective Particle therapy, is a cutting-edge cancer treatment modality. Patients referred for particle therapy often face unique psycho-oncological challenges that stem from their diagnosis, treatment complexity, and the physical and emotional toll of cancer care. As this might affect patients´ outcomes and Quality of Life (QoL), psychological distress is highly relevant to clinicians and as such of great interest. The aim of the study was to assess the need of ancillary support using a validated screening questionnaire for outpatients referred to particle therapy in Austria.
