Physics - Dose prediction, optimisation and applications of photon and electron planning

We tested the Conventional and new optimisation strategies in a cervical cancer patient using the 70 MHz 4 waveguide ALBA4D system. We generated one-hundred test cases, randomly sampling tissue-property probability distributions. We calculated temperature distributions with conventional and new optimisations for each sample, comparing tumour T90 and the number of constraint violations (max(T tissue )>45°C).

Results: Conventional optimisation had 28 test cases without constraint violation, with a median T90 of 39.7°C. For strategies (1), (2) and (3), cases without constraint violation were increased to 33, 41 and 36, respectively. Median
