Conclusion: The systematic literature review showed that both PDR and HDR BT result in median LC > 92% for lip and nasal vestibule carcinomas. Therefore, a transition from PDR to HDR BT is not expected to influence oncological results. In terms of practical aspects, there are more differences between PDR and HDR. Interview results show that HDR is more flexible than PDR in terms of patient hospitalization and afterloader availability. However, the choice for PDR or HDR is mostly dependent on institutional resources.

However, this can lead to significant functional and aesthetic complications. This analysis investigates an alternative treatment strategy combining high-dose-rate interventional radiotherapy (HDR-IRT, brachytherapy) with organ-preserving surgery.
