Conclusion: We observed a shrinkage of the parotid glands over the course of radiotherapy, with a higher radiotherapy dose associated with increased shrinkage. There was no systematic change in intensities on the bSSFP images. For the shrinkage of the submandibular glands, no dose effect was observed. However, intensity change was correlated to the delivered dose, which may indicate functional changes. The lack of correlation between intensity changes and volume changes implies that they provide distinct information.
