Material/Methods: According to the (SOR) it is the professional and legal responsibility of a radiographer to reduce harm to patients in their care. To enable a radiographer to establish if pregnancy is possible, the sex of the patient at birth needs to be identified. The IPS radiation exposure safety check form (Figure 1) was developed as a tool used to help ensure patients are not accidently exposed to radiation during radiotherapy, if they are pregnant. The IPS radiation exposure safety check form is given to all patients aged 12-55 before a radiotherapy planning exposure and with consent, the form is stored in their radiotherapy record for view by other radiographers to ensure pregnancy checks are completed during the radiotherapy treatment pathway. To aid this process, IPS information posters with inclusive and accessible language around gender were also used, alongside comprehensive staff training.
