Results: The introduction of the IPS check demonstrates to service users and staff that our department is a safe and inclusive environment. As with current pregnancy status checks, IPS will help us share the responsibility for safe care with our patients and provide an additional layer of protection in relation to pregnancy enquiries. It is there to protect patients from unintended exposure, particularly the unborn foetus who is at greater risk from harmful effects of radiation. This demonstrates best practice within the radiotherapy service with a high standard of safe and equitable care, inclusive of all patients regardless of gender. Conclusion: IPS has been successfully implemented as SOC for all patients aged between 12-55 within the Northern Ireland Cancer Centre. This has been a vital measure for enhancing patient safety and equality of care References: 1.
