Digital Poster RTTs in stalemate. Evaluating responsabilities and ways to manage personnel loss: a comprehensive survey of romania's professionals. Raluca A Opris Radiotherapy, The Oncology Institute "Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuta", Cluj-Napoca, Romania Purpose/Objective: Assessing the RTT profession regarding its future and development paths, forshadowing the incoming posibility of a drastic career change of the burnt out employees. Material/Methods: We created a survey, using the google forms platform, composed of 4 upfront questions, 3 of which had multiple choice answers. We distributed the anonymous questionnaire using a QR code during the most significant event for radiotherapy technologists in Romania: the annual course dedicated to radiotherapy technicians and radiotherapy nurses held in May 2024 in Cluj-Napoca. Half of the targeted audience completed it in the 2 days span it was available. Results: The results of the study align with the grim prediction made by the Young ESTro community at the 2024 ESTro edition in Glasgow. Over half of the RTTs considered at some point leaving the field. The reasons vary from the poor monetary compensation to the lack of promotion oportunities or career development. Among the areas chosen for a career change they preferred the non-medical field (especially IT) but also considered transitioning to CT, MRI, or even nursing. The solutions proposed by the technologists included an increase in wages and develpoment oportunities (even new roles and more responsability). The results were being distributed to the department coordinators and the doctors present at the event. Conclusion: In conclusion, an industry collapse can be prevented if proactive attitude is taken. Radiotherapy specialists have the desire to remain in the work field but there is a dire need of improvement in management and community.
