For the proposition, defending patient specific QA Leah McDermott will argue that patient specific verification should not be a waste of time, RT is still developing and needs to be checked. We need to implement more efficient QA, but retain the element of verification for every treatment. Against the proposition, Marco Schwarz, will argue that with a better combination of machine and workflow QA we could reduce and even get rid of patient specific QA. He will challenge his opponent by arguing that what we call “patient specific QA” is not QA and it is even less “patient specific”. Chair: N. Jornet (Spain) Co-Chair: A. SYMPOSIUM Focus on site - Breast 14:30 - 15:45 | ROOM 129-130
This session focusses on the challenges to reduce dose to organs at risk in a breast radiotherapy treatment, without compromising the target dose. The clinical impact of deep inspiration breath-hold and breath-hold amplitude depths for left breast patients, is presented. An historical overview is given concerning the effect of radiotherapy on radiation induced heart disease. The risk factors for heart disease in breast cancer patients are discussed and options to achieve a dose reduction in the heart are described. Challenges of prone positioning on setup reproducibility, heart sparing, patient comfort and lymph node irradiation are presented. Chair: T. Katzman (Israel) Co-Chair: A. Leong (New Zealand)
14:30 > The Clinical Impact of DIBH For Breast Radiotherapy Speaker: G. Lawler (Ireland), M. Leech
