Regina Beets-Tan The Netherlands Cancer Institute Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Professor and Radiologist Dr Regina Beets-Tan, is Chair of the department of Radiology at The Netherlands Cancer Institute, Amsterdam. Her main areas of interest are abdominal and oncologic imaging. Her international research track record is in MRI of rectal cancer and she collaborates with multidisciplinary teams worldwide including the team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she was affiliated in 2008. The research at her department is focused on MRI, Image guided treatment, Interventional Oncology and Artificial Intelligence. Dr Beets -Tan is deeply engaged in international societies. She is the current President of the European Society of Oncologic Imaging and President elect of the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology. She is member of the Executive Council of the European Society of Radiology (ESR) and served in the Board of the Dutch Society of Radiology. Reflecting her mission to bridge the world of radiologists with that of clinicians, Dr Beets-Tan is actively involved in international clinical societies. As part of the steering committee of the European School of Radiology (ESOR), Dr Beets-Tan together with past ESTRO president Prof Valentini coordinates the ESOR/ESTRO multidisciplinary educational program. She serves as member of the GI faculty group of the European Society of Medical Oncology and served in the educational and strategic committees of the United European Gastroenterology (UEG). She represents the ESR in the Board of the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO). Dr Beets-Tan has (co)authored over 250 papers that together have been cited 7000 times and authored 35 book chapters. She is part of editorial boards of several peer reviewed journals and takes part in guideline and research panels of Dutch Organization of Science and the Dutch Cancer Society. Dr Beets-Tan has delivered over 350 invited lectures in radiological and clinical society meetings and has received several scientific and teaching awards, namely the 2009 Piedmont Society Award from the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the 2015 BJS Society Prize from the European Society of Coloproctology, the 2013 ESR Best Teacher Award and the ISMRM Outstanding Teacher Award in 2008, 2009 and 2014.
