SYMPOSIUM Is radiomics going to deliver on the promises that dose painting made? 08:45 - 10:00 | ROOM 112 Chair: U. Van der Heide (The Netherlands) Co-Chair: M. Hatt (France) 08:45 > Machine learning in medical imaging: challenges and opportunities Speaker: M. De Bruijne (The Netherlands) 09:10 > Challenges of MRI that have prevented adoption for dose painting and will persist for radiomics Speaker: C. Chung (USA) 09:35 > Challenges of PET that have prevented adoption for dose painting and will persist for radiomics Speaker: E. Troost (Germany) SYMPOSIUM Is dose calculation in proton therapy clinical practice a solved problem? 08:45 - 10:00 | ROOM 113-114 This session will critically analyse current dose calculation algorithms for proton therapy. The accuracy of available methods of dose calculation will be assessed challenging clinical situations including dose calculation in lung, the ability to model beam modifiers and heterogeneities, and the ability to perform dose calculation on cone beam CT images as part of an adaptive planning process. The shortcomings of current algorithms will be highlighted and possible solutions such as appropriate use of Monte Carlo dose calculation and cone beam correction methods identified. Chair: R.I. Mackay (United Kingdom) Co-Chair: E. Sterpin (Belgium) 08:45 > Dose calculation accuracy for lung proton therapy in clinical practice D. Followill (USA), P. Taylor, D. Branco, S. Kry 09:10 > Impact of beammodifiers and heterogeneities in dose calculation accuracy TBC
