INDICATIONS SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

AGED AND FRAIL PATIENTS

In older patients with NMSC, HDR-BT appears effective, simple,

safe,

comfortable and associated with low toxicity and excellent

cosmesis. It

might be a good choice for patients with contraindications

for surgery (due

to comorbidities or anticoagulant drugs) or for

patients where

surgery would result in a more disfiguring outcome.

KELOIDS

BT to prevent keloid formation is effective, especially useful in complex and irregular surfaces. The excision should be as close to the lesion as possible to avoid further damage to surrounding tissues. Catheter(s) needs to be placed at least 4 mm deep from the skin surface and below the approximation sutures.
