Problem: publication bias

• Consider two hypothetical studies:

• Study 1: Pre-treatment CT based textural features do not correlate with outcome in 120 HNSCC patients

• Study 2: Pre-treatment CT based textural features is associated with poor survival in 60 HNSCC patients

• Which of those two have the highest chance of being accepted in a high impact journal? • Which of these studies would have the highest chance of staying in the drawer and never be submitted?
