Induction chemotherapy followed by CCRT or RT for patients with esophageal cancer

Purpose/Objective:

To investigate the feasibility and clinical outcome of induction chemotherapy (IndCT) followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) or RT for patients with esophageal cancer.

Material/Methods:

This study enrolled 61 patients with newly diagnosed esophageal cancer who received IndCT + CCRT/RT from December 2019 to January 2023. Baseline characteristics are median age 60 years-old (range 42-81); male/female=57/4; performance status ECOG 1/2=58/3; stage I/II/III/IVA/IVB=5/5/28/7/16. The pathology included 58 squamous cell carcinomas, 2 adenocarcinomas and one patient with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
