Purpose/Objective:
Background and Purpose: This study aims to compare the product cost of external radiotherapy with National Health Insurace (NHI) reimbursement tariff in Indonesia.
Material/Methods:
Questionnaires were spread to 46 centers. Author collected data about annual operating cost, number of patients treated, and total fractions given, and categorized based on ctual and comprehensive the product cost. Both categories are compared to NHI reimbursement.
Results:
From 29 centers, centers with high radiaton technique differed with low technique (2D vs 3D vs IMRT vs IMRT and stereotactic) (p = 0.014 and p 0.001, respectively). Center who has Linac compared to Cobalt are found to have higher actual product (p = 0.002) and comprehensive product costs (p = 0.001). Comparison between median actual and comprehensive product cost were $ 83,57 vs $ 119,17 respectively. We then compared the comprehensive product cost with the NHI tariff, It shows that the trend of the difference between the two is that the comprehensive product costs higher than the NHI tariff, while the difference in actual product costs at only 9 centers was higher than the NHI tariff because only 5 centers that filled in the questionnaire data completely so that they could be processed further as actual costs.
