DEBATE This house believes that 5x5 Gy offers more opportunities for tailor made treatment than conventional chemoradiotherapy in rectal cancer patients 14:30 - 15:45 | ROOM 117 Which preoperative treatment strategy (preoperative 5-FU-based chemoradiotherapy or preoperative short-course RT ) to use in rectal cancer patients remains a matter of debate. During this session the different approaches will be discussed in detail. Opponents will highlight the advantages of the preoperative strategy they defend while criticizing the opposite approach. At the end of the debate participants will have a better insight in what the optimal strategy might be for the individual patient presenting with rectal cancer taking into account tumor TN stage and MRI features, location, molecular profile, response, and to patients’ risk factors and preferences. SYMPOSIUM Prostate brachytherapy: LDR seeds versus HDR monotherapy 14:30 - 15:45 | ROOM 129-130 In this session the pros and cons of LDR seed versus HDR brachytherapy used as a monotherapy for the treatment of localised prostate cancer are discussed. Dr Haworth compares dose conformity, plan robustness and discusses biological considerations. Dr Martens gives an overview on the long-term tumor control and toxicity data accumulated with LDR seed monotherapy for low- and intermediate-risk prostate cancer. Dr Yoshioka presents an update on the results achieved with HDR monotherapy using
